The Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) 2024, held at RAF Fairford from July 19 to 21, once again confirmed its status as the most important and spectacular military aviation event on the planet.

With over 250 aircraft from dozens of nations and around 150,000 spectators, the 2024 edition was a triumph of technology, diplomacy, and pure adrenaline.

The central theme of this year's event was a double historical tribute. RIAT celebrated the 50th anniversary of the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon in grand style. For the occasion, Fairford hosted an unprecedented "Viper Line," featuring over twenty aircraft from countries including Belgium, Denmark, Jordan, Morocco, and Romania, many of which sported spectacular commemorative liveries.

In parallel, the event paid tribute to the 75th anniversary of NATO. The highlight was Friday's ceremonial flypast, which featured a multinational formation composed of fighters and support aircraft from 12 different nations, led by a NATO E-3 Sentry and an RAF RC-135 Rivet Joint, symbolizing transatlantic unity and cooperation.

Among the flying displays, the undisputed star was the Qatar Emiri Air Force's F-15QA "Ababil." Making its European debut, the Boeing-built fighter left the crowd in awe with its extreme maneuverability and tight turns that seemed to defy the laws of physics, thanks to its thrust vectoring capabilities and the power of its engines.

European excellence was also well represented:

Red Arrows: The RAF's aerobatic display team celebrated its 60th season with their customary precision and new maneuvers.
Patrouille Suisse: The Swiss team also celebrated its 60th anniversary with a flawless performance in their iconic F-5E Tiger IIs.
Tornado and Hawk: Both models celebrated 50 years since their first flight, with Italian and German examples (for the Tornado) sporting special "anniversary" liveries.

RIAT 2024 also hosted celebrations for the centennial of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). Canada brought a wide range of assets, including the eye-catching CC-295 Kingfisher in its bright yellow Search and Rescue (SAR) livery and CF-188 Hornet fighters.

The imposing arrival of an American B-52 Stratofortress.
Rare Moroccan F-16s in their distinctive desert camouflage.
The solo display of the Czech Gripen, always appreciated for its precision and power.
